Hi there, I’m Karen

Hi there! My name is Karen and I have been teaching English and other subjects in an online classroom setting since 2014. I hold a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies, a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)  teaching certificate, along with a minor in Gerontology and Horticulture.

My online teaching experience includes 5 years of ESL teaching with VIPKID and 3 years of teaching extra-curricular clubs with Outschool. When I am not teaching online, I can be found in the classroom of my local elementary school as a substitute teacher. In 2019, I was asked to speak at a conference of 700+ teachers to talk about how I use technology in the classroom to teach ESL students. I also had the opportunity to speak with the Oxford University Press about ESL curriculum. As of 2022, I have taught over 10,000 ESL classes online.

 

My online classroom is guaranteed to be a fun and engaging experience. Students will learn from an ESL curriculum made by experts in the online ESL industry and taught by ESL Teacher Karen Willow of Willow Academy. I have several physical and digital props, lessons, and games at my fingertips to adapt to each learner's style.

This Core Curriculum encompasses reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and listening lessons.
